Easiest DIY Pottery Barn Hack: Replicate Glass & Sand Candleholder
Do you love a good Pottery Barn Dupe? Learn how to easily replicate Pottery Barn’s luxurious glass and sand candleholder for a fraction of the cost with thrift store supplies. I’m sharing the easiest DIY Pottery Barn Hack tutorial that anyone can duplicate.
This may be the easiest hack idea I’ve ever shared. By using thrifted containers, I saved approximately $95.00. Let me show you how.

DIY Pottery Barn Hacks Inspiration
First, I saw these cute candleholders when Pottery Barn introduced their new lookbook.
Since we just remodeled our beach cottage, these candleholders caught my eye.
They actually come in three sizes. However, the two smaller-size candleholders would cost me approximately $98.00. This retail price doesn’t include the candles or sand.
Although they would be perfect for the beach cottage, this was a lot more than I wanted to invest.

First, I was on a mission to find an alternative, so I visited all the thrift stores in the Wilmington area.
I quickly found these two vases, which are approximately the same size as the two from Pottery Barn, for only $3.00 for both at Habitat ReStore.
It was time to gather the supplies and try this Pottery Barn Hack.

Supplies for DIY Pottery Barn Candleholder Hack
I already have a good supply of raffia that can mimic the reed for this simple hack. You can purchase rolls of reed, but I wanted to keep expenses minimal, given the limited amount needed.
You will also need a hot glue gun, a candle for each size, and sand.
How To Attach Raffia To Glass Candleholders
Begin by choosing several strips of raffia.
Add a drop of hot glue to the glass vase, approximately three inches from the bottom of the 10-inch container, and attach the end of the raffia to the glass.
Note: When adding raffia to the smaller container, begin approximately 1 – 1 1/2 inches from the bottom.

Next, add more hot glue to the glass and attach the raffia by wrapping it evenly around the edge of the container. Apply glue randomly to ensure that the raffia doesn’t slip from the desired position.

Wrap until the raffia-covered area or the desired coverage is approximately 2 inches high.

Secure the last end of the raffia, and your hack is almost complete.

How To Finish The DIY Candleholder Hack
To finish the DIY Pottery Barn Hack, add sand and a candle.

They look great on the DIY pegboard shelf accent wall, and I saved approximately $95.00 to get the same look.

The DIY Accent Wall is filled with thrifted and DIY projects, including the nautical rope mirror.
In addition, I duplicated another simple Pottery Barn inspiration hack for the beach cottage, using a thrifted container, driftwood, and a found twig.
