Dirt Road Adventures: Beach Cottage Decor Inspiration, Thrifting With The Gals, and 4th Chemo Treatment
Happy Sunday, and welcome to Dirt Road Adventures! This is where we review all the exciting events behind the scenes, on the website, and the sources of inspiration I discovered online during the past week. This weekly recap ensures you donโt miss any of our adventures here at the end of our Dirt Road.

Hey Friends,
We spent most of the week at our beach cottage, and I was inspired to add some creative DIY projects to the decor. Then, I couldn’t resist sharing some updated coastal decor ideas with you. Our tiny cottage doesn’t allow for much decorating, but I hope you liked my small ideas.
I’m so excited for next week! Each day, I’ll be sharing for our Christmas in July series. From Monday to Friday, you receive ideas to help you prepare and give you inspiration for your holiday season this year. Look for a daily email and enjoy.
We had to return home on Thursday in preparation for my 4th Chemo treatment on Friday. We were blessed with so many prayers that this treatment would do the trick and really reduce the amount of disease around my organs before my surgery on August 18th. I’m overwhelmed with the number of messages and well wishes I’ve received. If you’d like to learn more about my Ovarian Cancer journey, you can read MY Cancer Journal here.

DIY Decoupage Seashell On Canvas: Custom Coastal Map Decor
Hey friends, weโre spending some time at our beach cottage, and Iโve decided to decoupage some of our seashells. Adventures Off The Dirt Road
Why Didn’t I Think of That?
There are so many wonderful blog posts each week, and Iโm sharing some of my favorites with you today.
There are so many creative ideas, and I’m always asking myself, “Why didn’t I think of that”? LOL
- I loved Michelle’s idea for using maps – How to Make A Map Sailboat.
- My talented friend Wendy gave me the inspiration for my seashell map art and she also shared this great idea – Easy DIY Wall Moldings for Instant Character.
- I love dried lavender, and Stacy’s tips forย How To Harvest Lavender Flowersย are so helpful.
- Jill’s tips for 17 Ways To Make A House Feel Like A Home were so spot on.
- I love decorating with dough bowls, and you will love seeing KariAnne’s creative post,ย How To Decorate A Dough Bowl.
My Thrift Store Adventures
I love finding great deals at thrift stores. One thing I can’t resist is garden statuary. I recently added this little boy statue. Isn’t he the cutest?

We also finally ate at Island Burger at Carolina Beach. This restaurant began its humble roots in a gas station and started getting rave reviews. When the Hardee’s next door went out of business, they decided to expand their operations. Opening this past Spring, the lines have been out the door. We decided to brave the crowd and arrived at the restaurant at 11:30 AM, grabbed the last available parking spot, and finally got our first taste of their cheeseburger. It was really good and a little pricey. However, everything is a little pricey these days, especially in resort areas. The atmosphere was good, and we will go back.

My friend Patty sent me this quote. It has long been a favorite of mine and one I’d forgotten about. Thank you, Patty, for bringing it back to my attention.
