Hey Friends,
It’s been a busy week! I’ve been shopping, thrifting, and crafting all week. You saw some of my adventures on the blog, and I have more to come. I can’t wait to share.
I’m starting to feel energetic again now that my shoulder pain is under control. Between decorating for fall, I’m also planning for Christmas. Since we will be gone on our trip on the first of November, I’m feeling a need to get a head start on my holiday decorating. By the time we get home, it will be all about Christmas.
I’m still shopping for my travel wardrobe and trying not to overpack. It’s really hard to scale back and not take 20 pairs of shoes and all my jewelry. We will be gone for 15 days, and you never know what you’ll want to wear, am I right? If anyone has any good packing tips, I’d love to hear them.

One of my creative friends, Angie, suggested that turning the upcycled mercury glass votives upside down would be another way to decorate with them for the holidays. I was so excited about this idea that I decided to see what it would look like. Since I don’t have my holiday decor accessible yet, I used one of my small fall pumpkins. I think this idea will be lovely if you use several on a table to support vintage shiny-brite ornaments at Christmas. Maybe on a mantel or as part of a dining table centerpiece. What other ways would you use these upcycled thrift store finds?
What’s in my Cart!
I’ve been finalizing some of my fall projects and will be sharing them with you next week. Here are some items I’ve ordered and some of my latest fashion ideas.
- It was cheaper to order this wooden bead garland than to order the beads to make a garland. You’ll see what I did with it soon.
- The detail on these wooden leaves makes them easy to use.
- It was also cheaper to order new battery-operated votive candles than to replace the batteries in some I’ve had for a few years.
- These suede fall loafers are super comfortable and so cute.
- I’m practically living in these cargo jorts.
- They are a perfect match for these cute sneakers. I get so many compliments on the color combination.

Hi Rachel! Every day, you remind us we don’t have to spend a lot to create beauty. You display your ability to mix & match existing items to create new visuals. Follow this same approach when deciding what goes in your suitcase! I know it’s hard not to take everything we might want to wear, but my packing tips: Travel light. Focus on combinable basics with small accessories that stand out. But leave room, in your heart and in your luggage, for new treasures yet to be discovered. Trust me: When you look back on your incredible experiences and memories, what you were wearing just won’t matter! Your trip is going to be AMAZING!!!
