Dirt Road Adventures: Thrifting, Shopping, Crocheting, and Allergies

Happy Sunday, and welcome to Dirt Road Adventures! This is where we review all the exciting events behind the scenes, on the website, and the sources of inspiration I discovered online during the past week. This weekly recap ensures you don’t miss any of our adventures here at the end of our Dirt Road.

Yellow Iris blooms at Ponds Farmhouse

I hope you had a good week. Brad and I both have been suffering from allergies, and mine turned into a severe sinus infection. I’m slowly getting better, but it’s not been fun. As a result, I’ve stayed most of the week indoors and worked on projects. I’m settling into Spring decorating and hoping to share some new ideas soon.

I’ve also been shopping and preparing for a getaway to Charleston, SC, for a long wedding weekend. I’m finally starting to feel more like my old self and taking an interest in fashion again. I’m sharing some of my latest finds and purchases. I also have my first hair appointment in almost a year this week. My hair is still extremely short, and I’m unsure about color. But I’m going in to see what can be done with what little I have.

I had another infusion and blood work on Friday, and although I’m feeling good, some medication changes had to be made. I have updated my Healing Journal with all the details.

Adventures at the End of the Dirt Road

This is a look back at all my adventures this past week.

You may have noticed that I’m slipping in a new crochet pattern almost weekly. Once I reintroduced crochet into my life, I became obsessed. It’s such a relaxing craft. I find that when I’m feeling overwhelmed, I take a break and crochet. Creating patterns for home decor and fashion accessories has become an outlet for my creativity. I actually watch tutorials on Pinterest to relax while taking my blood pressure twice a day. I have found that just watching helps to lower my numbers. So I hope you like the patterns, and if you don’t crochet, I hope you will give it a try. It’s such an inexpensive way to create (especially if you buy your yarn on sale), and you can carry it with you. I always take a project when I’m having my infusions. If you are just learning, start with this dishcloth pattern, and you’ll be making placemats in no time.

Why Didn’t I Think of That?

There are so many wonderful blog posts each week, and I’m sharing some of my favorites with you today.

There are so many creative ideas, and I’m always asking myself, “Why didn’t I think of that”? LOL

What’s In My Cart

I’ve always loved fashion, and I’m ready to get back in style for the summer. Here are some of the fashions and other supplies I’ve been adding to my cart.

  • I’m loving the look of these white denim culottes this year. It’s just a refreshing new look, and mine are on the way.
  • Then I saw these cute jeans and had to have them too.
  • I want to pair this cute Swiss dot top with the jeans.
  • I received these suede sandals and floral earrings to go with the dress I’m wearing to the wedding. The shoes are so comfortable and a great price for a special occasion.
  • I’m loving the graphic tee trend and have ordered this one for the summer.
  • I just added this travel outfit to my cart, and I’m still deciding on the best color choice. Do you have a favorite? I also added these tank tops to wear with it.
  • I’ve also learned that my medications make my skin sensitive to the sun, so I’ve been using this firming self-tanner and love it. It looks so natural, and I definitely need firming.
  • My new favorite beauty product is this rapid reduction eye serum. It works amazingly well. There is a bit of a learning curve, but it’s so worth it for the results. No more puffy eyes.
  • I also recently added this fun lamp to the farmhouse. I saw one similar in a boutique, and this one looks just as stylish with its gold details.
  • My latest crochet obsession is this raffia yarn. I have several colors and just made a cute evening bag for the wedding. Can’t wait for you to see it.
  • And finally, I am stocking up on these bath cloths while they are on sale.

Thank you for following along, and I look forward to sharing my next adventures with you!
