DIY Faux Apothecary Cabinet

By: The Ponds Farmhouse

I’ve been rescuing furniture for more years than I can count, but while we were building our farmhouse, the repurposing bug hit big time.

It began with our DIY kitchen island, which we built because I couldn’t let go of a previously rescued piece of furniture. In this tutorial, I show you how to repurpose two pieces of furniture into a 6′ x 7′ farmhouse kitchen island.

I’ve always wanted an old Apothecary Cabinet. However, they are hard to find, and if you luck into one, whew, that price tag!

When we downsized, we placed a large 16-cube IKEA cabinet in storage, just in case we ever needed it again.

When I searched for a storage cabinet for my new greenhouse, out came the IKEA unit.

We got busy transforming the boring piece into my dream cabinet. It’s a favorite upcycled decorating idea.

Now, the greenhouse has lots of storage, and I have my Apothecary Cabinet. See how to repurpose furniture with this IKEA hack.

Y’all know I love a good thrift store find, and so does my sweet friend Niky.

One of the things I always look for is solid wood items, and Niky really lucked up when she found not one but two signs for just a couple of dollars each.

You are going to love how she easily transformed the signs into farmhouse-repurposed decor that works within her home.
