Dirt Road Adventures – Spring Trends

Hey Hey! It’s Sunday and I’m getting excited about all the Spring Trends!

I’ve been decorating for weeks but our temps are so erratic. One day 70 degrees and the next 40.

So I’ve been working on some DIY ideas for the latest trends.

Do you do that?

I see something that’s trending for Spring and then try to make my own or something similar.

Today, I’m giving you a sneak peek at some of the ideas I’m currently working on and then I’ll share how I’m going to use them later.

One of my favorite trends that I’ve been using for years is cloches. However, there’s a new twist with the addition of woven trays as the base.

Instead of rushing out to purchase the latest trend, I decided to check my stash. I have several cloches in various sizes and I’ve been collecting these wicker paper plate holders to use on my table settings for a couple of years.

I did purchase the cloche on the right hand side new here.

All of my wicker plates are thrifted and my latest purchase was 4 for a dollar. They are fairly easy to find. However if you don’t have time to thrift and prefer to purchase some, they are available here.

I also have several thrifted cloches like this one.

This is very similar to the new ones I’ve seen in retail stores. I added the wooden top and jute string to up cycle this inexpensive cloche.

If you check back at thrift stores on a regular basis, you can pick these up for a few dollars. See this post about Successful Thrift Store Shopping.

Not only do they look cute with a cloche, you can use them on your dining table. Vintage plates look cute mixed with the wicker plates and vintage silverware.

Use woven wicker trays with place settings to add texture

In addition, I love to stack them with clay saucers or vintage plates and use them as a plant or floral arrangement stand.

Another trend is rattan and bamboo accessories. These Pottery Barn Glass Candleholders are filled with sand and wrapped with rattan.

Since I’d like this look for our beach cottage, I found both of these containers at the thrift store for only $3.00. I have some raffia that I’m planning to wrap around the containers and I’ll probably find a little sand at the beach.

Stay tuned for the reveal.

Thrift Store finds are great for Spring Trends DIY projects

I’m loving these distressed blue and white accessories that I’m seeing them everywhere. Even Joanna has a version available at Magnolia so I’ve decided to use them as inspiration for another project.

Accessories for Spring Trends

I found these napkins and a thrift store lamp for $1.00. Do you see where I’m going with this? The project is in process and I can’t wait for you to see the finished lamp.

What’s in my Cart

These are my favorite jeans. I have them in black and denim so I decided I needed White for Spring.

For a comfortable shoe that your can wear all day, my favorite brands are Remonte and Rieker. I just purchased these by Remonte and I’m thinking about these by Rieker. I like this color combination as well.

Rachel, your pink and green table is so beautiful and I love all your vintage dishes. I haven’t seen those distressed blue and white containers here but I do love them. Just finished our pool house remodel with blue/white and those would look great in there. Thanks for sharing all your spring inspiration! Happy Sunday!

funny those paper plate holders are such a blast from the past. When I was a kid paper plates were the big thing. Busy mom's used them for every meal and the wicker holders were great for outdoor gatherings. You have some fun ideas for spring trends in the works; those pottery blue/white vases are gorgeous!

I love all of your spring trends and ideas for recreating them, Rachel. Isn't it amazing how much you can save with a little bit of DIY? I spent ages drooling over your porch, it's just all so lovely! I can't put anything nice out yet, it's still snowing and very windy here. Thanks so much for featuring my Easter lamb cake this week, I really appreciate it! Enjoy your Sunday!
