Dirt Road Adventures – DIY Weekly

Hey Friends! What a crazy short week it’s was! Do holiday’s totally ruin your schedule? Well, I’m going a little DIY Crazy over here and I’m sharing what I did, plus some of the cutest ideas from my friends.

We were at the beach for Memorial Day Weekend and didn’t get home until late Tuesday. Therefore, it felt like Monday!

My most immediate concern was the garden. After being left alone over a long weekend, everything was still alive. Yay!

Adventures at the end of the dirt Road

My oldest hydrangea plant, which I complain about not having many blooms, is full of blooms this year! It’s going to be gorgeous.

The Bees Balm is standing tall and will be blooming any day now. I can’t wait to watch to hummingbirds and butterflies that are attracted to this, easy to grow, plant. See the link below, from Stacy Ling, for more easy plants that attract butterflies.

The light purple verbena came back strong from last year and the butterflies are already hovering.

Also, standing tall is the Lollipop’s. They are popping up all over the yard. I’m singing “Lollipop lollipop oh, lolli lolli lolli lollipop”. all day long. LOL

My tomato plants had really gotten tall while we were gone. I knew we needed something to support them so we quickly threw together a Garden Obelisk. We used some reclaimed wood from a porch railing. See how easy it was to construct here.

If you missed the salvaged bed frame garden bed post, you can check it out here.

If you missed the Simple Antique Furniture Makeover, you can still check it out here. It’s a perfect solution for a damaged piece when you don’t want to spend a lot of time or money to refinish.

The Vintage Chest is currently being used for display in my mini RaH-Rags Shop downtown Asheboro.

Why Didn’t I Think of That?

Each week, there are so many wonderful blog posts, and I’m sharing some of my favorites with you today.

There are so many creative ideas, and I’m always asking myself, “Why didn’t I think of that”? LOL

Niky at House On Silverado shared this adorable DIY Flag using wine corks. What a fun and creative idea.

Keeping with the patriotic theme, I love how Chloe at Celebrate and Decorate set her table with elegant Red, White & Blue Chinoiserie.

My creative friend Michele, at Vintage Home Design created this fun swan planter and I’m in search of a swan to copy her idea. Isn’t it so fun?

Corine at Junk to Gems is so talented and I love these cute rustic patriotic flags she made. See the tutorial here.

Diy Patriotic decor using burlap cut in triangles. Then painted like a floag and glued to sticks.
