Y’all this is truly a trash to treasure DIY project. I received a package and the contents were safely wrapped in this unusual packing material. I decided it could be used for something really unique. So instead of adding it to the recycle bin, I up-cycled it into Plate charger’s for my Fall Tablescape.

Y’all I just couldn’t throw this bronze colored packing material away. There had to be a use for it. To be honest, I originally thought about making a wreath, however instead this is what I did to make DIY Plate Charger’s using packing material.
The first thing I did was spread all the packing material out and cut it into approx. 4″ wide strips. In addition, I cut four pieces of light weight wire 8″ long. You can use floral wire or any flexible wire for this step.

Make a Circle
Next, thread the wire through the open weave of the packing material, in and out until the material is all on the wire. Then secure the wire by twisting the ends together and shape the wire into a circle.

I suggest placing a plate on the packing paper circle and adjust the dimensions if needed. You can also trim the paper with scissors if necessary.

Build your Setting using DIY Plate Charger’s
I love to layer my place settings and create depth and interest with a variety of dishes.

Here I used a vintage set of pottery dishes as the bottom plate. The blue plate has flecks of brown which are almost the same bronze color as the trash to treasure charger’s. In addition, the fall pumpkin plates have a little shimmer of bronze in the leaves and are a perfect match to packing material.

Fall Tablescape
The DIY Packing Material Plate Charger’s are the perfect addition to this fall tablescape. In addition, know one would guess that they are made from packing paper.

The pumpkin napkin rings and leaf napkins continue the bronze color theme throughout the tablescape.

In conclusion, never overlook an opportunity to recycle or up-cycle in a new and interesting way. I’ve had so much fun sharing what this material is.

I’m all about recycling/repurposing things that might otherwise end up in the landfill so your clever idea for the packing paper makes me happy. Your plate chargers are fabulous and so unique and look perfect with your Fall tablescape. I’ll never look at packing paper the same way after seeing this.

Very smart idea! Looks so cute! I think even I could make those. Now I need to order something to get the packing material! LOL! I have seen that kind of material before, but it was just paper bag colored.
Shelly,
I hope you can find some. I just love them. Even the paper bag color will be beautiful.
Thanks for stopping by.
