Amazing Recycle DIY Project: Packing Material Plate Chargers
Looking for inexpensive ways to decorate for fall? You’ll be amazed at this DIY table decor that I made for Free! Believe it or not, I used packing material to make DIY Plate Chargers for a fall tablescape.

I just couldn’t throw this bronze-colored packing material away. There had to be a use for it. To be honest, I originally thought about making a wreath. However, I decided to make DIY Plate Charger’s using the packing material. Here is an easy tutorial showing step-by-step instructions to create your own Free DIY Table Decor.
How Do You Make Free DIY Table Decor?
Y’all know I’m all about free decor, and these DIY Plate Chargers turned out so darn cute. It’s hard to believe they were free. If you like cheap and free decor, be sure to see Free Fall Decorating With Nature Ideas.
For this project, all you need is some lightweight wire and packing materials.
I guess you could argue that the packing material wasn’t free because I had to purchase something to get it. LOL
How Do You Make DIY Plate Chargers From Recycled Packing Material?
The first thing I did was spread all the packing material out and cut it into approx. 4″ wide strips.
In addition, I cut four pieces of lightweight wire 8″ long. You can use floral wire or any flexible wire for this step.

Make a Circle
Next, thread the wire through the open weave of the packing material, in and out, until the material is all on the wire. Then secure the wire by twisting the ends together and shape the wire into a circle.

Test the Plate Charger
I suggest testing to be sure the plate charger is the right size and shape.
Begin by placing a plate on the packing paper circle and adjusting the dimensions if needed. If you feel the charger is larger than you need, just trim the paper with scissors if necessary.

Build Table Setting using DIY Plate Charger
I love to build each place setting by adding several layers with a variety of dishes.
The DIY Plate Charger is layered with a blue pottery dinner plate and a fall pumpkin salad plate.

For this Fall Table, I used vintage pottery dishes as the bottom plate. The blue plate has flecks of brown which are almost the same bronze color as the Trash to Treasure DIY Table Decor. In addition, the fall pumpkin plates have a little shimmer of bronze in the leaves and are a perfect match to the packing material.

Fall DIY Table Decor
The Plate Chargers are the perfect addition to this fall tablescape table decor. In addition, the packing paper color is enhanced by the fall decor.

The pumpkin napkin rings and leaf napkins continue the bronze color theme throughout the tablescape. You might also enjoy another DIY plate charger made from Twigs.
I used several pieces to pull this fall tablescape together, and they include a Long galvanized tray, pumpkin salad plates, faux berry garland, and faux pumpkins, as well as the DIY Plate chargers

In conclusion, never overlook an opportunity to recycle or up-cycle in a new and interesting way.
Be creative and think outside the box when planning to decorate your home. Decorating doesn’t have to be expensive to look great.
I’ve had so much fun letting friends guess what the plate chargers are made of, and very few know the answer. Actually, only those who follow my blog. LOL
Thanks for being here today!
