Beat the Holiday Rush: My Favorite Christmas Decor to Shop in July

Hey Friends, we’ve all been there! We find the perfect tree or wreath for our holiday decorating, only to find it’s already sold out.

When it comes to finding the best budget-friendly Christmas decor, the early bird definitely gets the worm. To help you beat the holiday rush, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite Christmas decorations, along with links to the exact items (or identical matches) so you can shop early.

Plus, I’m sharing a look back at how I styled these pieces around the farmhouse for some early design inspiration! Let’s get started.

Shop Early for Christmas Trees

I’ve used this Christmas tree for several years, and I have it in the evergreen and frosted. It’s only 6.5 inches high, so it’s great for adding to a container. I use different decorations to create a new look each year.

Many companies have their trees reduced for Christmas in July. I need a slim tree for my space, and I’m considering a change this year.

I’m really loving this King of Christmas slim, 9′ Yorkshire Fir Tree, and they have a sale right now. Another source is Lowe’s Home Improvement, and their trees are so reasonably priced. This Fraser Hill 9 ft tree is a favorite that I’m considering.

Christmas Greenery, Wreaths & Garlands

I love using faux greenery and garlands when decorating for Christmas. They make a great base for DIY projects and for adding real greenery for a fuller look. Here are some of my favorites.

Porch Garlands and Wreaths

The stunning garland above the front door is one of my favorite pieces. I have two of these Christmas Garlands with battery-operated lights. If you have a single door, you would only need one garland.

The larger wreaths on my front doors were my favorite find from last year. They come in a set of two real touch Norfolk Pine wreaths and look much more expensive than they are. I purchased two sets.

I also added the smaller real touch wreaths and the cream 1″ velvet ribbon.

The DIY faux galvanized planters are filled with fresh magnolia leaves and these natural-looking Norfolk Pine Stems. Small mini-evergreen trees and the neutral, oversized rug give the porch a warm, welcoming feel.

I have been known to drape the porch swing with natural cedar, a fresh magnolia leaf garland, or this fun faux pinecone and berry garland. With a red winter throw blanket and festive red-and-white pillow covers, it’s the perfect spot to get cozy on a cool holiday evening.

Christmas Garlands & Wreaths Indoors

The extra-full Norfolk Pine Garland is stunning when mixed with bleached pinecones, dried orange slices, and 1-inch brown velvet ribbon on the mantel.

A simple velvet bow adds old-world charm to this natural-looking Norfolk Pine Wreath. This the same wreath I used on my front doors. After purchasing the first set, I was sold on the value for the money.

Christmas Pillows

One easy and inexpensive way to decorate for Christmas is to switch out the pillow covers on your sofa and side chairs. The ready-made Olive Chenille Pillow Covers were used as a base for the DIY Sherpa Christmas Tree pillow.

I paired the inexpensive olive pillow covers with the fun creme colored faux fur Christmas tree pillow covers. Both come in a set of two and are so reasonably priced. And they come in several color options to match your home’s decor and Christmas theme.

Bedding for the Holidays

Another fun way to decorate for the holidays is to change out your bedding. I’ve been using this adorable Winterberry Forest Set from Levtex Home for the past few years. Since it’s only on the bed for a short period of time, it still feels brand new when I pull it out each Christmas. However, I do sometimes leave it out through January because it feels like winter too.

Thrifting for Christmas Decor

You probably noticed that many of my Christmas decorations are vintage or second-hand. You can save so much money by shopping thrift stores for unique finds. Most stores will have all the holiday decor displayed by Labor Day. So mark your calendar and hit the shops early.

I love finding vintage ornaments, figurines, dishes, festive serving pieces, and even table linens at thrift stores. However, finding some holiday decor such as pillow covers, bedding, garlands, and greenery can be tricky, so if you are set on a certain look, be sure to order early.
