Textured Decorations For A Cozy Fall Mantel

First, when I started decorating the living room mantel, I didn’t want to spend any money. So I began digging through my fall storage crates and came up with these ideas. To create a warm and cozy fall mantel, I began by adding decorations with lots of texture. Here are the items I began styling the mantel with.

How To Add Fall Garland To Mantel

The first step was adding the fall garland to the mantel. I wanted a full-textured garland, so I combined the two garlands for added fullness. I attached the two ends of the garlands to the ends of the mantel with command hooks. Then I twisted the garlands together at the center of the mantel. The center is lush and full of fall leaves.

Adding Textured Decor To Fall Mantel

The addition of textured decor is an easy way to create a warm and cozy feel on your mantel. Let’s take a look at the textures I used for this year’s decorations.

Vintage Woven Demi Johns

I’ve recently started collecting Demi Johns and only have three at this point. However, with their woven covers, they help to add the much-needed cozy texture I wanted for this year’s mantel.

Dried Stems, Faux Leaves, and More

I added some dried flower stems and pods to add height to the wide-mouth demi-john at one end of the mantel. To balance the mantel ends, I added a DIY Hickory Nut Candle Ring next to the demi john.

I used the other two demi johns on the opposite end and added a small salt-glazed pottery jug as the third element.

The tall demi john sits on a vintage green book and holds a few faux leaf stems.

A Touch of Elegance With Gold Pheasant

I found this gold pheasant last year and added a touch of Antique Gold Rub N Buff to shine her up. I decided to add her to the center of the cozy mantel to add a touch of elegance to the otherwise rustic mantel.

Rustic Farmhouse Fall Mantel

In conclusion, this cozy, fall farmhouse-style mantel was quick and easy to assemble. It will also be easy to transition to a Christmas mantel by switching out the garland and dried stems for evergreens.

For budget-friendly decorating, start by looking for items you already own to add texture and interest to your mantel styling. Many of these items can be substituted with items that you already own, such as baskets, woven vases, faux fall flowers, pottery or earthenware pieces, amber bottles, and more.
