How to Make Homemade Kahlua
First, gather your bottles that can be sealed. These are going to be gifts, so therefore I purchased some small bottles with flip tops. You can use any type of bottle that can be sealed. As an example, recycled wine bottles or liquor bottles work great for storage.
Wash bottles thoroughly, and then sterilize with boiling water. Sterilize the funnel as well.
Ingredients for Delicious Homemade Kahlua
Next, gather your ingredients and you can see amounts on the recipe below.
Note: Don’t use expensive vodka for this recipe because it isn’t necessary. Inexpensive vodka will be perfect.
Bring the water to a boil and add sugar while stirring continuously until completely dissolved.
Next add the instant coffee crystals and stir until dissolved. Then add vodka and vanilla extract.
- 3 quart sauce pan
- Sealable Bottles
- Small Funnel
- 3 cups water
- 4 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup instant coffee crystals
- 2 tbsp vanilla extract
- 750 ml Vodka
- Bring Water to a boil
- Add Sugar stirring until dissolved
- Add Coffee stirring until dissolved
- Add Vanilla & Vodka
- Using funnel, pour into individual sterilized bottles and seal
- Let stand for 3 weeks
- Shake bottles occasionally over the 3 week period
Fill Bottles with Homemade Kahlua
For this next step, I recommend placing your bottles inside your sink because of accidental spillage. Using a funnel, begin to fill each bottle without over filling. You need to leave room for the liquid to be shaken. Close each bottle with the flip top or cork, depending on how the bottle can be sealed. In addition, a screw top cap is perfectly ok to seal the bottles.
Shake Bottles for 3 weeks
You will want to place your bottles in an area where you can easily shake the contents occasionally over the next 3 weeks.
Then after three weeks, you Easy Delicious Homemade Kahlua is ready to be served or given as a gift. The small bottles are so perfect and appreciated as hostess gifts.
