Dirt Road Adventures – Landscaping Idea

Hey y’all are not going to believe this but we’ve been home for over a week.

After spending so much time remodeling our beach cottage over the winter and spring, it feels odd to be home for an extended period of time.

However, we did get some work done around the yard and even enjoyed a few evenings in the pool.

Landscaping Adventures

Here’s a little behind the scenes from this past week.

First, when Brad returned home after Memorial Day, he found that most of our mulch had washed into the driveway and onto the concrete around the pool.

We don’t have any level ground around our home and during a heavy rain, everything washes toward the ponds.

We decided we needed to create a barrier around the natural areas in our landscape.

Since we have an abundance of field rock in the pastures, for free, we got our workout by gathering them in the gator.

Next, we began placing a barrier wall of rock around our landscape mulch areas.

We will be gathering more rocks next week.

However, we got a lot accomplished.

We are amazed by how much better this looks and can’t believe it’s taken us 6 years to think of this solution. Plus… it’s free, except for the labor and hopefully our mulch will not wash away.

Your mulch is now not only functional but is also looking nicely contained and bordered…don’t you just love it when solutions are not only easily accessible but FREE?!?! I so enjoy reading your blog, having discovered it sometime last year; in so doing became curious about your references to Boll and Branch bedding. Suffice it to say, I’m spoiling myself: I just ordered the duvet/sham combo after purchasing a set of their sheets. Now I just want to sit in bed with my coffee in the mornings and read your blog, lol…and after reading today’s post, I’m looking forward to reading Molly from Maine’s new blog. Can you say “easily influenced”?!?!
