Dirt Road Adventures – Getting The House in Order

Do you need an excuse to get your house in order? We are constantly working on one project after another, so getting the entire house ready for visitors can be a challenge. This past week I had the house fully decorated and the greenhouse also.

Whew! That was a lot of work but so fun.

I sometimes need a deadline to get my act together.

Please tell me I’m not alone.

This is a look back at all my adventures this past week.

The week was filled with amazing home tours, creative entertaining ideas, recipes, and DIY projects. I found so many creative ideas and some incredible thrift store finds that had me doing a happy dance.

In other news, Spring is upon us with beautiful blooms, and our resident geese are back for mating season.

Gertrude and Heathcliff return every Spring to lay their eggs. You can see Heathcliff standing guard on the dam. Gertrude is across the pond in a grassy area watching over her eggs.

In Case You Missed It

Can you get over this Cobb Salad Stack? My husband and I love making these salad stacks. I’ll share more recipes soon, but this Cobb Salad Stack with Chicken is a keeper.

I made a DIY Tablecloth and Napkins to prepare for our Spring Fling Dinner Party. I love how they turned out, and they were so easy to make.

Next, it was time for the 30 Blogger’s Best Home Tours. I shared my Country Chic Decorating Ideas for Spring in the Living Room, Kitchen, and Dining area.

Next was the Spring Fling Supper Club Party in the She Shed/Greenhouse. I had so much fun adding all the vintage garden decor to this table setting.

Finally, on Saturday, I shared How to Set up a Salad Bar and a full menu with 6 recipes.

It was a full week, and I hope you enjoyed all the inspiration.

Why Didn’t I Think of That?

Each week, there are so many wonderful blog posts, and I’m sharing some of my favorites with you today.

There are so many creative ideas, and I’m always asking myself, “Why didn’t I think of that”? LOL

Thrift Store Bargains

I didn’t spend much time thrifting this week. I didn’t have anything I was searching for, but I decided to make a couple of stops anyway.

Guess what? I found so many great deals. Isn’t that how it works? If I’d been looking for something, I’d not have found these bargains.

Weekly Thrift store finds - woven baskets and mirror with silver tray

The silver bowl and old mirror were great deals for only $4.50 for both.

I always pick up mirrors that work with my shelf and cabinet vignettes or alone. This one is really heavy and professionally framed. So it was a great deal for $2.50. It will get a new coat of paint and be perfect somewhere soon.

My favorite finds are the baskets. The taller wall basket wasn’t the cheapest at $20.00, but I knew it was coming home with me immediately. The rope is not original to the basket and will be removed before it finds a permanent resting spot.

The other basket is huge and old. It has been put to good use over the years for sure. I couldn’t believe it was only $5.00.

The basket hanging on old ladder and a thrifted basket filled with spring flowers in corner of office.

Stay tuned to see how I style each of these treasures.

I shared these tips and more in Ten Best Tips for Thrift Store Shopping.

What’s In My Cart?

I shared so many great finds on my Amazon Store Front this week. Several pieces that I used on the Greenhouse Spring Fling Table can be found on this page.

I also shared many items that were found on my Country Chic Farmhouse Spring Tour.

You’ll see what I’m doing with these pink pillow covers soon.

I got these white pillow covers too.

These rechargeable light bulbs will come in handy for another project.

I’m getting more of these Pink Peonies for a Spring project.

I’m thinking about this light for the beach cottage, or is this one best?

Love seeing your geese. We have tons as we live about a quarter of a mile from several large lakes. They come around each day looking for birdseed, but thankfully don't lay eggs here. Love all your great Spring inspiration. It's still pretty chilly around here.
