If you are looking for a fun summer party theme, consider these Luau Party Ideas which include 5 Luau Party Decor ideas for a festive table.
Alfresco dining is so fun during the summer. I had so much fun planning and creating this fun Luau Party Table by the pool.
I’m sharing all the tips and ideas to make your table fun and festive.
What Is A Luau Party?
Hosting a Luau Party is such a fun party theme because it is usually held outdoors and the dress is casual and tropical.
You can plan a Luau themed party for birthday’s, engagement parties, anniversary parties, and definitely for a Supper Club Party.
Just think tropical clothing, grass skirts, tropical drinks and good food.
Supper Club
Today’s Luau is part of our monthly Supper Club series.
If you are joining us for the first time, we are a group of friends who love to entertain and when entertaining in person wasn’t recommended last year, we started a virtual supper club in January 2021.
Each month we choose a theme for our dinner tables, which we post on the 4th Thursday of each month.
Next, we each share a recipe to complete the meal on the 4th Saturday.
Each month we have one guest blogger joining us and I’m so excited that Libbie from A Life Unfolding is our guest for June.
If you are joining me from Simply 2 Moms, welcome. Didn’t you love AnnMarie’s Luau Table for Adults?

Inspiration for Luau Party Table Decor
When I was planning the Luau Party Table Decor, I was inspired by these tropical napkins.

In addition, I wanted the napkins to have a unique fold so therefore used the tulip napkin fold with a woven napkin ring.

Luau Party Decor
One of the first ideas was to use grass skirts around the edge of the table.
This was easily accomplished with a trip to the Dollar Tree where I not only found grass skirts but lai’s for the guest.

How To Add Grass Skirt To Table
Since this was a Luau themed party and not something I would be repeating on a regular basis, I wanted to be budget minded.
First, the grass skirts were budget friendly for only $1.00 at Dollar Tree.
Next, I purchased inexpensive pink fabric for the tablecloth.
In order to attach the skirt to the fabric, place the fabric on the table and add plates to hold in position.
Then using straight pins from the underneath side of the fabric attach the shirts along the edge of the tabletop.
Once the party is over it’s easy to remove the skirts and the fabric can be used for another project.

Luau Party Centerpiece Ideas
Once again I was inspired by these dried palm leaves.

They look great with the tropical napkins that I planned to use.
I began with a tall ironstone pitcher and added a bundle of faux eucalyptus stems.
Spread the stem out around the lip of the vase and then arrange the dried stems in and among the greenery.
Finally, I used extra raffia to tie a ribbon around the pitcher.

Lastly, I added a real pineapple beside the pitcher to complete the centerpiece.

Table Place Setting
You may remember seeing these DIY Placemats from last weeks tutorial.
These were inspired by the Luau Theme as well. Since the placemats are a statement piece on the table, I opted for simple white ironstone plates.

Here is a step by step process of the table setting.

Finishing Touches
To add some warm touches to the tablescape, gold and acrylic cutlery was added.

The green water goblets add more tropical greens to the table setting and clear wine glasses are the final touch.

Both the green goblets and wine glasses are thrift store finds.

In addition, you can create a more tropical feel by adding ferns and other greenery around the landscape and beside the table.

To give the setting a vacation feel, the table is in the garden area next to the pool.

Love the skirting and chargers you made. You are very creative. Do you live near Wilmington? I've seen your thrifting with friends. I'm going to be in Wilmington tomorrow. Could you recommend some thrift stores?
