5 Creative Christmas Table Decor Ideas

Christmas is a time for gathering family and friends for good food and good cheer. The dining table serves as a gathering spot, and it’s important to take a little extra care when planning your decorations. However, you don’t have to spend a lot of money. Begin with your own items and then fill in with vintage, thrifted, and DIY projects.

Make your tablescapes unique, and don’t be a rule follower. You’ll be amazed at how creative you can be. Here are some ideas to help you get started.

Add Warmth to your Table Setting

My first tip is to add warmth to your table setting for Christmas. I like adding a tablecloth or runner to cozy my table.

This year, I made a patchwork tablecloth to use over the holidays, and if you’d like to make one similar, I have a full tutorial.

It really helps to anchor my table setting and adds a vintage feel because of its patchwork design.

Instead of a full tablecloth, I chose a scarf or throw version. It warms the table without feeling too heavy. I also like using table runners; you can see last year’s table runners here.

Elevate to New Heights.

Tip number two is to add a variety of heights to your table setting.

Here, I added a DIY table riser to the middle of the table. This helps to create a fun centerpiece and adds height to the centerpiece items.

It works as a centerpiece because it anchors all the random items together for one cohesive centerpiece.

The riser also holds the everlasting fork and knife candles from Lucid Candles, which I also used on my Thanksgiving Table.

Mix with Vintage

Y’all know how much I love using vintage pieces all throughout my home.

Vintage dinnerware is one of my favorite things to thrift, and I found these adorable individual gravy boats while out Thrifting with the Gals in Wilmington, NC.

I’m excited to use them for salad dressing this year on my holiday table.

Reindeer dishes from Casafina make for a fun Christmas Table

The glassware and the silverware are all items I’ve found out thrifting this year. The silverware was one of my favorite finds, for sure.

In addition, I used two French Vintage bowls to hold greenery spears as part of the centerpiece. The mixed-matched brass candle sticks and salt and pepper shakers help to complete the riser and are both vintage.

The green goblets are vintage and are both thrift store finds, along with the wine glasses.

Unexpected Centerpiece

Next, instead of a floral arrangement, I decided to use these 3 reindeer as the focal point of my centerpiece. They are centered around the DIY Christmas Table Riser, which allows them to stand at various heights.

This was inspired by the Deer Friends dinnerware from Casafina, and they are a gift from the ladies at The French Farmer’s Wife.

Reindeer Ornaments double as place card holders and perfectly match the centerpiece reindeer.

They allow guests to communicate easily without blocking the view around the table. Because they are similar in height, I only placed one on the riser. The other 2 reindeer are nestled next to the riser.

Greenery Christmas Table Decor

Adding greenery is a great way to tie a centerpiece or table decor together.

I love to use real foraged greenery later during the season. However, today, I used two faux garlands and wrapped them around the bases of the reindeer and candlesticks.

Christmas Table Setting

I was so inspired by these beautiful dishes from Casafina. The neutral Taormina plate chargers will be perfect to use year-round on table settings.

I decided to keep the table setting simple to not compete with patchwork tablecloths and to allow the Deer Friends plates to shine. They make the table so fun and festive.

In addition to the DIY Christmas table decor, I used neutral napkins so that they wouldn’t compete with the tablecloth. The snowflake napkin rings are from Piper Classics.
