Hey friends! I was recently inspired to create this simple Easter tablescape after finding a set of bunny-and-cabbage napkin rings at the thrift store for only $6.00. I immediately envisioned the table styled with my favorite cabbage plates and thrifted ironstone pieces.

The result is a beautiful combination of new and vintage tableware for a charming spring look. Today, I’m sharing my best thrifting tips, simple centerpiece ideas, and my favorite ways to layer old and new decor. Let’s get started!

The Easter Table Inspiration

Every great tablescape starts with a spark! For this year’s Easter table, that spark was a lucky find while thrifting in Wilmington. We had stopped to drop off a donation of cookware, and while Brad was busy unloading, I spotted the cutest bunny-and-cabbage napkin rings. A set of eight in perfect condition for only $6.00—they practically hopped into my cart!

Inspired Color Palette

The napkin rings also inspired the color palette for the tablescape. I knew I had to use my cabbage dishes mixed with white. But I also wanted to create a soft Easter egg vibe with pastel colors like blue and pink.

Budget-Friendly Thrifted Tableware Ideas

You know that I don’t like to spend a lot of money on my seasonal decorating, so I began to gather other thrifted finds to complete the tablescape and keep it budget-friendly. Here are a few of my previous finds and where I found them.

  • Thrifted Silverware for only 10 cents a piece at a Habitat ReStore.
  • A set of vintage embroidered white napkins from a flea market booth for only $5.00.
  • Vintage ironstone butter pat plates for 50 cents at Goodwill (years ago)!
  • Ironstone pitchers collected over several years.
  • The vintage salt and pepper shakers were a thrifted find from several years ago.

Finding the Perfect Thrifted Easter Decor

As you know, I’m always searching the thrift stores for seasonal decor. Here are my insider tips for finding the perfect thrifted Easter Decor.

  • Create a list of items you need or want to fill your table with Easter charm
    • Don’t overlook the surprise find that may not be on your list. I wasn’t looking for bunny napkin rings, but there they were, and they were a perfect find.
  • Look for thrifted high-end pieces such as Easter dishes, platters, napkins, and napkin rings.
    • Check the maker’s mark to ensure you are getting a quality piece.
  • Snap photos of Easter tableware that you’d love to own but aren’t willing to pay the high price tag. When you have a photo, your memory will be clear, so you can look for a similar item while thrifting.
    • Look for similar-shaped platters, dishes, and bowls that you can repurpose.
    • If the marker’s mark isn’t high-end, but the items look like your inspiration photo’s and the price is right, go for it. No one will be able to tell the difference.
    • Even unappealing figurines can be repurposed to fit your theme.
  • Don’t overlook evergreen tableware. You can always use ironstone pieces, such as white dishes, pitchers, and salt & pepper shakers, to mix with the seasonal decor. Brass candlesticks, silver serving pieces, and colorful glassware will all help to pull a stunning tablescape together.

How to Create an Ironstone Pitcher Centerpiece

I decided to mix my green cabbage dishes with vintage white ironstone plates. So, when I began envisioning the table centerpiece, my collection of ironstone pitchers came to mind. Here is how I created the Easter table centerpiece.

  • First, I gathered 3 ironstone pitchers of different sizes.
  • Since it’s a little early for garden flowers, I used soft-touch pink tulips in two sizes.
  • I placed the larger tulips in the largest pitcher and the smaller ones in the smallest pitcher.
  • For the medium-sized pitcher, I gathered fresh greenery from my garden. Waxy leaves from my gardenia plant filled the pitcher, adding height to the centerpiece.
  • I nestled the three pitchers in the center of the table, and I used a wooden riser for the medium-sized pitcher.
  • Finally, I added vintage ironstone salt and pepper shakers and a upcycled bunny candleholder to complete the centerpiece.

Tips for Making Faux Tulips Look Real

When my garden is empty of flowers, I turn to my trusty artificial flowers. Here are a few tips to ensure they look as realistic as possible.

  • Purchase good-quality soft-touch flowers.
  • Opt for individual stems instead of a bundle for a more realistic arrangement.
  • Display seasonal flowers when they are usually readily available in the stores.
  • Bend the petals and stems so they droop, just like the real ones do.

Tips for Layering Old and New Place Settings

Now let’s pull the table setting together. Here is how I mixed the old and new tableware to create a simple but stunning tablescape.

Tablescape Base

First, begin with the base of the table. You can use tablecloths, runners, or placemats to give the table a solid foundation for your place settings.

I used this gorgeous block print tablecloth from Cotton Print Club. Although it’s a new item, it’s handcrafted and has a vintage feel. I also added the matching blue-and-white pillow covers to the chippy church pew.

In addition, I pulled out the large white plate chargers that I’ve owned for several years. They are really just oversized dishes, but they work great with my vintage ironstone collection.

Layering the Place Setting Old & New

The white plate chargers form the base of the place setting. Next, I added a vintage white ironstone dinner plate topped with the green cabbage salad plate. A white ironstone butter pat dish completes the stack.

Thrifted silverware and a vintage-inspired new water goblet provide a touch of shine and color against the blue and white tablecloth.

DIY Upcycled Easter Decor

I also added a few pieces of my upcycled thrifted bunny decor for a touch of nostalgic charm.

The combination of blue, pink, green, and white give the table just the touch of Easter egg colors I desired.

Final Touches

I always like to decorate the surrounding spaces to work in tandem with the tablescape. Therefore, the plate wall gallery holds vintage white ironstone plates and a vintage gathering basket filled with greenery.

The antique porch column is a cute spot to add a DIY Moss Bunny topiary to oversee the tablescape.
