What Is A Vignette In Design
A vignette in design is a small grouping of decorative objects that are used to add visual interest to a room. Vignettes can be created on any surface, such as an entry, side, or coffee table, a mantelpiece, or a bookshelf.
How To Set-up A Fall Vignette – Insider Tips
- First, choose a focal point. This could be a piece of art, a lamp, a mirror, or a decorative object you love and want to highlight. You may need more than one focal point when decorating a large table.
- Use an odd number of objects. Vignettes look more balanced and visually appealing when they have an odd number.
- Vary the heights of the objects. This will create a more dynamic and interesting fall table set-up and allow the eye to move around the vignette.
- Use different textures and materials. This will add visual interest to your vignette and provide a cozy feel to the room.
- Don’t worry about the rules when it comes to creating a vignette. Just have fun and let your creativity flow.

Fall Table Set-up
The fall table set-up is anchored by the large antique mirror and earthenware lamp on the long entry table. The mirror is enhanced with more vintage and home decor elements reflected within the farmhouse.
The vintage basket filled with fall stems balances the uneven number rule when creating a vignette.

Fall Vignette Elements
The table is scattered with several fall vignette elements.
Foraged pinecones and dried yarrows can be seen underneath the entry table. While white pumpkins, faux floral stems, and bitter-sweet garland add to the tabletop.

In addition, a DIY Dried leaf and acorn arrangement adds a rustic autumn vibe and enhances the faded patina on the vintage books.

The dried leaf arrangement comprises foraged twigs, leaves, and faux acorns. Here, you can see how to use this arrangement in a Dollar Tree Pumpkin Frame for a Fall Wreath.

Trending Vintage Thrift Store Finds
The fall table set-up is filled with treasures that are vintage and thrift store trends for Fall.
The handcrafted basket is filled with faux fall stems but would look equally good with a real plant or dried garden flowers.

Another fall trend is faded vintage book covers. Here, they are used as risers on the fall table set-up. You should always vary the heights of your vintage vignettes to allow for a visually stunning display. Vintage books add texture to the fall vignette and provide much-needed height to the vintage and thrifted decor.

More textures and handcrafted items can be found next to the entry table.
The deconstructed thrift store chair is covered with a DIY Drop Cloth Feed Sack Fabric, and the recycled scrap fabric pillow is a DIY decorative pillow that is easy to make.
Another large floor basket holds naturally dried stems, palm leaves, and pods.

Earthenware is another big trend in fall decorating, and the budget-friendly thrifted DIY lamp costs a fraction of the inspiration lamp from Pottery Barn. The full tutorial on How to make an Earthenware Lamp can be found here.
In addition, the shelf above the entry table includes trending vintage brass candlesticks, thrifted landscape artwork, and more books and pumpkins.
