Do y’all remember the Dollar Tree Leaf Wreath I shared earlier? If you like that DIY Project, you will love how easy it is to make this Dollar Tree DIY Table Runner.
I overestimated how many leaves I would need, so I decided to make a Dollar Tree Table Runner with the leftover leaves.
I had a linen table runner from a Thrifting with the Gals adventure, and it was the perfect base for the Falling Leaves Table Runner.

How To Make A Dollar Tree DIY Table Runner for Fall
First, you need to gather your supplies. I had four packages of natural burlap leaves left over from the original project and a 12 x 50 thrifted linen table runner.
- Four packages of Dollar Tree Burlap Maple Leaves
- Solid Color Table Runner – size depends on your table length
- Permanent Fabric Fusion
- Straight Pins
Drop Cloth Runner
This project would also work well with a drop cloth table runner. Here is a no-sew method to make the base for your falling leaf table runner.
- Cut the drop cloth fabric to the size you need for your table length. Most are approx. 12-14 inches wide. Allow a 3/4 inch on all sides to fold under the raw edges.
- Use a hot iron to press under the 3/4 inch raw seam on all sides of the drop cloth.
- Add a small amount of fabric fusion along the turned under edges to secure the seam.
- You may need to add some straight pins to hold in place until the fusion dries.
Add Burlap Leaves to Drop Cloth
Begin by removing the wire stem from the dollar tree burlap leaves. They are easy to pull off.
Begin on the back side of the leaf and apply fabric fusion to the edges of the leaf.
Attach the first leaf to the table runner at the lower edge of the fabric. Secure the leaf with straight pins until the glue has dried.
Add Falling Leaves
Next, add three burlap leaves at the bottom edge of the runner.
Apply the fabric fusion to the area of the burlap leaves that will connect to the table runner.
Pin in place with the straight pins.
Attach the second row of two leaves, dropping from the original three.
Apply glue to the areas that the leaves will join and pin them in place.
Finally, add single rows of leaves dropping from each other. I used four single leaves to complete the DIY Dollar Tree Table Runner.
Allow the fabric fusion to dry for several hours before removing the pins.
Repeat on the other end of the table runner.
Don’t Make This Mistake
I initially didn’t use pins to secure the leaves in place. Instead, I used paint containers to add weight to the leaves.
This worked, but when I applied the leaves to the other end of the runner, I found adding the straight pins was a much easier and more efficient option.
Fall Tablescape with Dollar Tree DIY
The Dollar Tree DIY Table Runner is perfect on the Fall Tablescape.
In addition to the falling leaf table runner, I added two DIY burlap runners for the place settings.
I cut two pieces of burlap to run underneath the falling leaf runner and raveled the edges to form a fringe.
In addition, I added the DIY Pottery Barn Leaf Napkin Rings to complete the festive fall table setting.
