DIY Vintage Book Page Christmas Stars: Easy Paper Craft
Hey friends, I’m back with another easy paper craft. This time, I’m using Vintage Book Pages to create stunning DIY Christmas Stars. These budget-friendly stars add rustic farmhouse charm to your Christmas decorations.
I’ll show you how to make them any size so they can be customized to work on your Christmas tree, garlands, or hung alone from a pegboard or shelf. You only need glue and an old thrifted book, so let’s get started.

Simple Paper Star Supplies
This vintage book page craft is very budget-friendly with just a few simple supplies.
- Old book pages – The size of your stars will determine how many pages you need.
- Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun
- Twine for hangers

How To Make Paper Stars
First, you want to determine the size of your stars. The first star I made was 6 1/2 inches square and required the whole page. However, I wanted the remaining stars smaller. So I cut the book page in half. This resulted in a 5-inch square, which is still a good-sized star. Keep in mind that this square is just one of the 5 points of the star.
- Cut the five squares by folding the page to determine the square.
- Open the square with the crease running vertically and fold the two corners in to meet at the crease.
- Next, fold the bottom point up and over the two previous folds.
- Finally, fold the two bottom corners in to meet at the center crease.

Use Hot Glue to Secure Star Points
Now you are ready to start gluing your star points. First, open the last two folds and apply hot glue to the inside of each fold. Ensure the glue is applied only to the folded sections as shown below.

Once the glue is dry, open the point and fold at the original center crease. You will need five pieces to complete each star.

How To Attach The Star Points
To complete your star, you will need to attach each of the star points with hot glue. Begin by adding a bead of hot glue around the triangle-shaped point at the bottom of the star. Press the two sides together to adhere. You can see how this looks from the backside in the image below.

Continue until all five of the star points are connected.

Insider Tip
For best results, add the hot glue around all three sides of the triangle and as close to the edge as possible. This will ensure that the star points are sharp and effectively secured.
Finally, complete your star by attaching the two outside points. Apply the hot glue as above, then fan out the points. Press the two ends together and hold until the glue dries.

Attach A Hanger
You most likely are planning to hang your stars, so before you finish, attach a hanger. I used gold twine and added a drop of hot glue to the backside of one point. Then I pressed the ends of the twine into the glue to adhere.

Ta-da! You now have paper stars.

How To Decorate With Vintage Book Page Christmas Stars
These easy paper stars make lovely Christmas tree ornaments. However, you can use them all around your home to add rustic Christmas charm. I am adding my vintage book page Christmas stars to the garland over the kitchen sink window.
I made one star larger than the other four to hang at the center of the garland.

Then, on either side of the larger star, I placed two smaller stars evenly along the garland.

The stars, mixed with vintage-inspired mini-ornaments, add a warm, cozy feel to the farmhouse kitchen.

Paper Star Craft Options
The paper star craft tutorial can be used to make any size star, from tiny to oversized. In addition to hanging the stars on a Christmas tree or garland, here are some other options to decorate your home.
- Add stars to a wreath.
- Hang from a shelf or pegboard.
- Add them to your doors or windows
- Hang several from the ceiling similar to a mobile.
The great thing about this paper star craft is that you can use any paper of your choice to make these stars. Here are a few options to consider.
- Old wrapping paper
- Scrapbook paper
- Make large ones from cardboard and paint them to match your decor.
- Cardstock in any color or print of your choice.
- Vintage magazines or newspapers
- Old Christmas Cards – A great way to recycle old cards.
