Dirt Road Adventures: Crazy, Exciting, Exhausting Adventures with Dogs, Deals, and Dinner
Happy Sunday, and welcome to Dirt Road Adventures! This is where we review all the exciting events behind the scenes, on the website, and the sources of inspiration I discovered online during the past week. This weekly recap ensures you donโt miss any of our adventures here at the end of our Dirt Road.
Hey Friends,
How was your first week of March? Ours was crazy, exciting, and exhausting! We’ve been furbaby sitting most of the week at our daughter’s house in Greensboro. That’s the crazy and exhausting part. Three dogs, two that are begging for attention every minute and one is the sweetest rescue but he’s at least 17 or 18 years old. He’s confused, can’t see well, and has accidents. Rudy is so jealous if we touch the granddogs so there’s not a moments peace. Drinking a cup of coffee was a challenge for Brad each morning. And on top of that we lost an hour of sleep this morning.

However, there are some perks to staying in the big city! We did some thrifting and I can’t wait to show you the deals we got. In addition, we were able to have some great meals at our favorite restaurants and I’ll show you my favorite meal. As an added plus, we will have an extra hour of daylight this evening. So win, win!

Adventures at the End of the Dirt Road
This is a look back at all my adventures this past week.
While in Greensboro, I wanted to check out the thrift stores I don’t regularly frequent. With Easter just around the corner, I thought I might find some good deals on decor. At our first stop, I didn’t see a single Easter item, however, what I did find blew my mind. You’ll see the deal we got under Thrifted Adventures This Week.
Another advantage to staying at our daughter’s house is that our favorite restaurants are nearby. This is the dinner part of our week. One night, we went to Elm Street Grill, and it was a half-price wine night. Therefore, they were slammed. Brad and I split the Sweet Chili Cauliflower appetizer and the Thai Basil Chicken Entree. It was a generous portion, and we had plenty left to take home. The restaurant has an extensive menu, and everything we’ve had there has been yummy.
For our next dining adventure, we went to 1618 West Seafood. This is my favorite restaurant, but one we reserve for special occasions, like a break from dog sitting. LOL. They have my favorite meal: an Ahi Tuna dish with sesame-crusted tuna, wasabi mashed potatoes, and sesame cabbage. Brad discovered his new favorite meal, the Sushi Tacos appetizer with a dinner salad.
The restaurant is lovely, and their service, atmosphere, and food presentation are top-notch.

Thrifting Adventures This Week!
Now for the deal part of last week. It began with a last second stop at a Salvation Army Select Thrift Store to look for Easter decor. Although we didn’t find a single piece of Easter decor, what we did see was much more exciting. I’ve wanted new bar stools for a couple of years but have kept putting the purchase on the back burner. When we walked into the Salvation Army Store, I immediately saw four bar stools that still had the plastic wrappers on them. Upon inspection, I noticed that they were Four Hands Bar Stools and knew from working at the High Point Furniture Market, they were high-end bar stools. I couldn’t believe the price tag, only $45.00 each!!!!! I quickly used my Google app to snap a photo of the chairs and here is what came up.

Any yes, I removed those price stickers so quickly it would make your head spin!! The above price is the cost of one stool, and I got four for $180.00. The color coordinates well with my other neutral furniture and home, with me, they came. Who says thrift store shopping isn’t worth it??

We didn’t find any other amazing deals, but I did snag this adorable Vietri cabbage planter at Freedom House Thrift Store for $8.00. I love all the cabbage items this year and couldn’t resist the cute planter.

Insider Tip: How To Know If You Are Getting A Deal!
Did you know that you can compare prices using your google app? When you open the app, you’ll see a search bar and to the right hand side is camera icon. If you open the camera, you can snap a photo and the app will pull up all similar items. If you know more details, you can get specific. For instance, the bar stools were clearly labeled Four Hands and the style name Astrud Counter Stool. I just typed these details into the “add to search” bar and the images and storefronts immediately pulled up.
This is a great tool when you are thrift store shopping. Vintage items can be difficult to determine their age, value, etc. However, with this app, you can quickly see if you are getting a deal because similar items with be revealed from Etsy, Ebay and other online vintage stores. The Vietri planter was revealed but was sold out on all the shops listed so I couldn’t get a price comparison. However, I loved it, it was in perfect condition, and felt it was worth the $8.00 price tag.
What’s in my Cart
Do you have the LTK app? If you have missed the social connection on Instagram and Facebook, you will want to add this app and follow your favorite accounts. On this platform, you can follow and see the people you want to see. They have just made some amazing changes and it will take a while for everyone to begin adding their content, however I’m so excited to jump on board and start sharing my finds, deals, and ideas with you on LTK. You will see that my page is in its infancy, but it will continue to grow and I hope you will follow along. Here’s what’s in my cart from last week…
- I received this oversized white blouse and LOVE it. It’s long enough to wear with leggings but also looks great with jeans and dress slacks. It comes in several colors, and I may order more.
- I’ve been needing black boots with a heel and these are so good looking for the price.
- They don’t have much cushion so I ordered these shoe inserts to make them more comfortable.
- I ordered this sweater/cardigan, which will be perfect for Spring. I can’t wait for it to come in.
- This car trunk organizer arrived, and it’s better than we expected. It’s easy to use and collapses if needed.
- Brad is loving these Cole Haan black sneakers.
Final Word
We loved our time with the grand furbabies this past week and Rudy gets so excited around Millie and Jackson. Although we feel exhausted, I believe Rudy wins the award. He’s surrounded himself with all his favorite toys and has not moved from his bed for hours.
Although it was wicked cold all week, we came home to this exciting preview of Spring! Next week, it is supposed to warm up, and we will enjoy that extra hour of daylight in the evening. Spring is in the air.

Thank you for stopping by again this week. Let’s have the best week ever and if you switched to daylight savings time today, enjoy the daylight!

That is a great idea for pots I have some that have seen better days so I need to help them out. The cabbage vase/planter is adorable and worth 8 dollars. The tips for cheaper bathroom updates read my mind and I love the wallpaper. Yes, no to the time change and yes to more daylight hours.

Talk about a labor of love. Rudy looks so happy to be back at home and chilling. Thank you so much for including my St. Patricks Day tablescape I really appreciate it. I also love your barstools – what a find! I’m crazy excited for you! Big hugs, CoCo
