Dirt Road Adventures: A Hard September Comes To An End

Happy Sunday, and welcome to Dirt Road Adventures! This is where we review all the exciting events behind the scenes, on the website, and the sources of inspiration I discovered online during the past week. This weekly recap ensures you don’t miss any of our adventures here at the end of our Dirt Road.

Hey Friends,

September is usually one of my favorite months. It’s a time to decorate the porch and farmhouse with all my favorite fall things—a time for crafting all kinds of new and fun projects. I never knew how hard my surgery recovery would be, and that at almost 6 weeks, I’d still have very little interest in decorating for fall. We had the main part of our house repainted while I was in the hospital, and most of my decor is still scattered and tucked out of sight. I did have Brad bring over some of the fall storage totes, and I had a few moments of inspiration. However, most of the decor is still inside the containers.

I appreciate you allowing me to share my previous favorites on the blog, and your kind comments and encouragement have been a true blessing. As I continue to recover, I appreciate your patience and support. It’s been a hard 6 weeks, and when I’m healed, the chemo will begin again. I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to share many of the holiday ideas I’ve been contemplating in the coming weeks.

Ovarian cancer is certainly a battle, and much more than I bargained for. I hope you will join me in making others aware of ovarian cancer by spreading the word.

  2. Hi Rachel, l always look forward and love your posts, however if it gets too much for you to do it on a regular basis. Don’t worry, you went thru a lot, take all the time you need to recover. It was a big operation, we all understand. Take care of yourself, you have a loving husband and a sweet dog by your side. And all of us, wishing you the best. Love Edna

    1. Edna,
Thank you for your sweet message and for your support. It’s so hard to be inactive for this length of time. I appreciate that you are still following along and I’m blessed to have your well wishes.

  3. Rachel I know you are not yet tippy-top but time and faith will bring you where you need to be. The protein thing I hear you, try Atkins protein shakes. They have different flavors even coffee latte choices. They taste good Not like ensure and Atkins is higher in protein. That way you don’t have to try and eat so much of it. I have even found a project you could do. Wendy’s basket arrangement was pretty but she has a link to a rope wreath and it looks simple and won’t take a lot of energy. Maybe you are missing your creative side and the wreath looks calming, easy yet so nice when finished. Just a though, but do try the Atkins nutritional drinks. Sending you hugs and prayers for a break through.

    1. Diana,

  6. Hey Rachel, your blog is like a warm cup of coffee on a fall morning – always there when you need it! Seriously, though, your courage is inspiring, and your post about ovarian cancer awareness is a reminder that even amidst the chaos of blog posts about air-fried green tomatoes and Dollar Tree crafts, life has its battles. Your energy bar recipe sounds like a lifeline for anyone whos ever survived surgery on a diet of ice chips – keep sharing those recipes, theyre gold! And dont worry if you miss a post here and there; were all just happy to follow along on your journey, whether its through healing or just figuring out how to make green tomatoes look fancy. Keep up the great work, and remember, were all rooting for you—no matter if youre upcycling books or battling cancer, youve got this! šŸŒŸÄ‘įŗæm ngược ngĆ y thi

You are doing so well! You are a fighter and the fight you’re in IS TOUGH! I’m so proud of you and love hearing from you each post and lift you up in prayer each time I read Dirt Road Adventures! Hang in there. We are all cheering you on and are so proud of the amazing effort you are putting into getting well. You are so brave and kind to share your story. I am reminded of, ā€œLet us run with perseverance the race set out for us ā€œ from Hebrews 12:1 as you share your updates. Thank you! Cheers to you and Brad and of course, loads of prayers!

    1. Katy,
Thank you so much for your support and prayers. I’m doing much better both physically and mentally this week. I appreciate you so much.

  9. Heh, reading through this makes me want to ditch the office and head straight for a dirt road, maybe stop at the Dollar Tree first! Those energy bars sound like the perfect pick-me-up after staring at spreadsheets all day. And while Im dreaming, can I borrow Rachels talent for finding DIY magic? My house is still decorated like I live in a regular old farmhouse, not a charming one on the end of a dirt road! Thanks for the laughs and the inspiration, even if Im mostly just here for the cute fall decor ideas I probably wont actually attempt for another year. Keep sharing the adventures!Roblox grow a garden calculator
