Dirt Road Adventures – Weekly Recap

Happy Sunday, and welcome to Dirt Road Adventures. On Sundays, we review all the exciting events that occurred behind the scenes, on the website, and the sources of inspiration I discovered online during the past week. This is a weekly recap to ensure you don’t miss any of our adventures.

We are back from the beach, and I have so many exciting things to share this week.

But first, I want to share how grateful I am that you are reading this. I feel so blessed to have each of you following along on our journey.

When we decided to downsize and build our farmhouse in the woods, I never dreamed it would be the start of a whole new career.

I had come full circle in my life, back to my roots, you might say. I never dreamed that at age 61, I’d have a successful career sharing my love of budget-friendly decorating and DIY projects.

So I’m so thankful for all your comments and words that lift me up daily and encourage me to keep going.

Y’all are the best!

Adventures at the End of the Dirt Road

This is a look back at all my adventures this past week.

Beach Adventures

If your idea of a fun trip to the beach includes reading on the beach, thrift stores and vintage shopping, and dining by the water, we need to be friends.

This past week we did it all, plus rode the ferry to Southport and enjoyed catching up with out-of-town friends and a little thrift store shopping.

You may remember my Thrifting in Southport, NC adventures earlier this summer.

Although I didn’t find as many deals as last time, I did enjoy checking out Old Elegance Antiques. It was a little on the pricey side but the shop is filled with all my favorite things.

I loved all the vintage dishes and copper pieces. They also had a great collection of vintage milk glass, and see the brass tongs; that was my one purchase.

Stay tuned because next week, I will share a detailed post about decorating with vintage milk glass.

Thrift Store Haul and Update

Do you remember the copper and porcelain double boiler we found last week in Wilmington?

Well, it looks as good as I knew it would in its new home.

I mentioned the brass tongs I found in Southport, and I love the patina.

Last week I talked about a new spot we found in Wilmington, Azalea Antiques. We decided to have lunch along the Riverwalk, and I convinced Brad that we needed to go back and get the rattan plate chargers I couldn’t get off my mind.

In My Cart

I can’t believe it took us so long to add blinds to our screened porch. We get intense evening sun, and it makes the porch an oven. We’ve only had them installed for two days, but I’m in LOVE. The difference is amazing.

See all the size options and details for roll-up blinds.

I also just received this tablecloth, and I love the fabric and tassels.

My Kindle PaperWhite finally arrived, and I noticed it’s still on sale. YAY, I love how easy it is to read compared to my Amazon Fire tablet.

If you need a baby gift, this was my daughter’s favorite book, and I’m gifting it for a baby shower.

Oh, I love the color of the goblets. Perfect for fall.

I just added this throw blanket to my cart. I love the texture and color for fall.

These feathers and this dish are calling my name.

LOVE how the new copper piece looks on your stove! And thanks for the links. I plan to get the feathers and hopefully the throw. I'm still trying to decide on what color combo to do this fall. I adore the golds and oranges but thinking maybe olive and black. Who knows! lol. Happy Sunday. Hope you have a great week.

You are always the highlight of my Sundays. And I am still 61 ( for another week) so we are kindred sisters in our journeys. Who would of thought we would be doing this at our age. Good for us! Thank you so much for sharing my Christmas place cards. Have a wonderful week Rachel.
