Dirt Road Adventures: Valentine’s Day, Beach Get-Away, Six Months Post Surgery
Happy Sunday, and welcome to Dirt Road Adventures! This is where we review all the exciting events behind the scenes, on the website, and the sources of inspiration I discovered online during the past week. This weekly recap ensures you don’t miss any of our adventures here at the end of our Dirt Road.

Hey Friends!
I hope you had a sweet Valentine’s Day! We decided to get away to the beach for a few days and enjoyed a delicious meal at one of our favorite restaurants here. We don’t do any of the traditional gifts for this occasion, but I hope to visit some thrift stores and maybe bring home a treasure to count as a Valentine’s gift. LOL.
The weather has warmed up, and it feels good to get back outdoors and breathe fresh air for a few days. I’m so ready for Spring! I hope you are having good weather where you are.
This week will be six months since my Ovarian Cancer surgery, and I’ll have my check-up on Friday. I’ve updated all the details about my blood work and infusion on My Healing Journal.

Why Didn’t I Think of That?
There are so many wonderful blog posts each week, and I’m sharing some of my favorites with you today.
There are so many creative ideas, and I’m always asking myself, “Why didn’t I think of that”? LOL
- I love CoCo’s idea for momgramming handkerchiefs. The tutorial is for beginners, so take a look.
- In a previous life, I owned a faux-finishing business, and KariAnne’s Faux Antique Finish on a tabletop makes me want to pull out my old supplies and give it a try. It turned out so good.
- It’s amazing what you can do with stencils, and this reminded me of the Faux Wallpaper Technique I used at our beach cottage.
- Ann & Anne Marie love to share healthy recipes, and this White Chili Recipe is delicious and high in protein.
- Stephanie’s DIY Wood Flower Wreath is perfect for any season.
What’s in my Cart
I’m getting ready for Spring decorating, and Cotton Print Club’s new tablecloths and pillows are calling my name. Here is the one I chose.
- This beautiful, handmade Block Print Tablecloth will enhance my Spring and Easter tablescapes.
- I also got these block-printed pillow covers.
- I’m going to try this suggested multisurface varnish for an upcoming project.
- These neutral felt wool balls are for another project.
- Wait until you see these napkins when I finish with them.
- I received this neck-held phone holder, and so far I’m loving how it works for close-up video. I used it for this Crochet Placemat tutorial.

Dear Rachel,
Interested to see what you do with the wool felt balls. Love the colors! Glad to read all the news and your health update. Still remembering you and Brad in prayer and cheering you on. Loved the words from Lamentations! Hang on to them.
Fondly

I cannot believe it’s been 6 months, Rachel! It’s crazy to think about all you’ve been through during that time and I’m so thankful you’ve shared your journey with us. I’ve been able to ask better questions at my own doctor’s appointments and to help keep friends and family informed as well. Excited about your crochet projects and everything you have in store for Spring. Thank you for sharing my handkerchiefs too. They were crazy easy! Sending you hugs, CoCo
