Dirt Road Adventures – A Very Vintage Week

Happy Sunday, and welcome to Dirt Road Adventures – A Very Vintage Week. Each Sunday, we review all the exciting events behind the scenes, on the website, and the sources of inspiration I discovered online during the past week. This weekly recap ensures you don’t miss any of our adventures.

Friends, as we roll to the end of October, I’ve been gearing up for Christmas Decorating. This week, I shared how I’m decorating my banister with oversized DIY ornaments, how to recycle wine corks into the cutest Christmas trees, how to set up for a Thanksgiving pie party, and yummy pie recipes and more.

In addition, I had a very vintage week with fun adventures.

Adventures at the End of the Dirt Road

This is a look back at all my adventures this past week.

It was a bittersweet week as we stood in line to attend the last French Farmer’s Wife Barn Sale. I have decorated my farmhouse with so many of their unique European antiques. From copper to breadboards to dough bowls and my famous wooden bowl, the treasures I have found add so much to my decor.

I found a few new pieces to add to my collections, but I will certainly miss the fun of treasuring hunting with my girlfriend. We’ve been attending since their first show together. We always say, “we don’t need anything,” but leave with the trunk loaded down.

Here is a glimpse of the inspiration we found at the last show.

After the barn sale, Brad and I traveled to our beach cottage. The weather was beautiful, and we took advantage of it to visit the Cargo District in Wilmington.

Shopping and exploring the Cargo District in Wilmington, NC

It’s a unique shopping and dining experience. The entire area is built with shipping containers.

We had lunch at Beat Street and Alcove Beer Garden, which are located in the same building. It was a unique and fun spot, and the food was wonderful.

We will definitely be back. We did a little shopping in the area before heading to my favorite vintage shop.

Next, we went to the Ivy Cottage, where I have found some wonderful treasures over the years. This trip was no different.

As soon as we entered the store, Brad spied a huge copper cauldron. Wow, it’s huge, and my heart rate went sky-high. The price was right, so needless to say, it’s currently traveling home with us. I’m still shaking a little from the experience.

Can you guess what I plan to do with it?

After that stop, we visited Flea Bodies, and I picked up some great milk glass pieces. Stay tuned for how I’m going to use them.

Finally, we spent some time relaxing on the beach. The weather was just perfect, and we had a great trip.
