Create Serena & Lily Inspired Rattan Candlestick Holders in Minutes
Hey friends, remember those Serena & Lily-inspired vases that I recently made? Well, I’m back with an even easier high-end dupe! Today, I’ll show you how to create your own rattan-and-brass look-alike candlestick holders in just a few minutes. This project requires only a couple of simple supplies, and the results are stunning.
If you want that designer look for a fraction of the price, let’s get started!

Inspiration Candlestick Holders
I spotted these adorable gold candlestick holders with rattan wrapped around the stem at the Serena & Lily Showroom. They are simply elegant, and you can purchase all three for only $328.00. They range in size from 4 to 9.75 inches tall, and I must note that they are made of brass, with the rattan hand-wrapped. I was expecting to see that they were antiques, one-of-a-kind, or made of 14ct. gold for that price. Yikes!
As always, I decided I could duplicate the look for less, and here is my version for only $37.00. My version ranges in size from 5.91 to 10.24 inches and is made of heavy cast iron with an antique gold finish, instead of brass. Instead of rattan, they are hand-wrapped using Floral Vine Bind Wire that looks surprisingly like rattan.
No, they are not identical, but they both have the same elegant coastal vibe. The question is: would you pay the difference?

Supplies For Serena & Lily Candlestick Holders Dupe
To make the Serena & Lily Candlestick Holders dupe, you will need three candlesticks of varying heights. I thought about looking at thrift stores for some vintage brass candlestick holders, but they needed to have smooth stems, so I decided to look on Amazon, and, as luck would have it, I found the perfect shape. Some were less expensive but had a smaller stem, and I didn’t think they would look as high-end.
I also searched Amazon for the rattan to wrap the stem, and I found this wired floral vine bind wire. The wire made wrapping super easy. Here are the links and additional supplies I used.
- 3 Cast Iron Candlestick Holders – Amazon $28.00 for 3
- 1 Roll of Floral Vine Bind Wire – I had plenty of this left over for other projects.
- Hot Glue Gun
- Wire Snips

How to Make The Serena & Lily Look-Alike Candlestick Holders
I’m here to tell you that if you can heat up a hot glue gun, you can do this craft. The wired vine bind makes this job a breeze. It is so much easier than wrapping with stiff rattan. Before you can blink a few times, you will be finished. Let’s get started.
Step 1
To begin, add a drop of hot glue at either the base or top of the candlestick stem.

Step 2
Attach the end of the wired vine wrap to the hot glue to secure. Then wrap the stem with the floral wire. I found that holding the wire steady and turning the candleholder works best. Ensure that you cover the stem tightly with floral wire.

Step 3
When you reach the end of the stem, cut the floral wire with your wire snips. Add another drop of glue to secure the end, and ta da, you are done.

Quick & Easy DIY Faux Rattan Wrapped Candlestick Holders
How easy was that? It took longer for the hot glue gun to heat up than it did to finish this project. It literally took less than 10 minutes to cover all three stems, and I’m loving the look.

The Serena & Lily Inspired Dupe
Wow, don’t they look great with the vases I previously made? I can’t wait to get these to the beach, but in the meantime, I’m loving them on my coffee table in the farmhouse. It’s okay to have a little coastal vibe going on here in the country.

I moved them around for a few more photo ops. I’m loving them here too.

Now I’m thinking I may need to make another set for the beach and leave these here. LOL
Okay, probably not because I have a huge collection of vintage brass candlestick holders, so I really don’t need another set for the farmhouse. But they do look amazing! Am I right?
