Dirt Road Adventures: February Happenings, Super Bowl Recipes & Preparing for Spring

Happy Sunday, and welcome to Dirt Road Adventures! This is where we review all the exciting events behind the scenes, on the website, and the sources of inspiration I discovered online during the past week. This weekly recap ensures you don’t miss any of our adventures here at the end of our Dirt Road.

Hey friends,

I hope your weather is improving. We are finally starting to see our driveway after the last snow, but it’s still so cold. This week, we are expecting more normal temperatures to return. Yay!

We survived the ice storm that wasn’t and the snowstorm that was, only to wake up to high winds on Saturday morning. Within minutes of making my coffee, our power went out. A tree at the edge of our property blew over, snapping the power pole. Fortunately, we got our power back before the house became frosty, but those poor guys spent half the day replacing the power pole in the freezing wind.

Are you excited about the Super Bowl? My husband will be watching, but I’ll probably be listening from afar, either reading or dreaming up another project. We are staying home this year, but we’ve attended many parties in the past, and I shared some of my favorite game day recipes last week in case you are looking for last-minute ideas.

I spent another week staying primarily indoors, which allowed me to finish some new projects and get others underway. I’ve also been obsessed with new crochet ideas. I shared the eyeglass cases with you last week, and I have so many other ideas. I’ve spent time practicing new-to-me stitches and snatching up my favorite yarn colors in anticipation of more projects.

I’m slowly removing traces of winter from the farmhouse in anticipation of Spring. Did you see the hydrangea tray I made from a $3.00 thrift-store find? Well, hang on for more transformations to come.

Why Didn’t I Think of That?

There are so many wonderful blog posts each week, and I’m sharing some of my favorites with you today.

There are so many creative ideas, and I’m always asking myself, “Why didn’t I think of that”? LOL

What’s In My Cart

  • I’ve been trying to share videos of my crochet ideas and have found it hard to get a good close-up while working, so I ordered this Neck Phone Holder, which will let me video up-close stitches easily. I’ll let you know how it goes.
  • You may see these napkins showing up soon.
  • Hint, I had to get some more of this product.
  • And these Sponge Applicators will come in handy.
  • I have the idea for the cutest Spring craft, so I ordered these felt wool pom poms.

I’m hoping the weather breaks and I can get back to thrifting and transforming. Stay tuned for all my upcoming ideas. Have a blessed week.

  1. I love your ideas I missed last week. Unlike you I got the ice. a week later the snow on top of ice. Yeah. Had 12 inches and the temp was 8 so the pipes froze. Got them unfrozen by then I had to get the snow off the steps. Then i needed a nap, LOL
