Chowderfest – Supper Club Competition Theme & Recipes

Are you ready for a Supper Club Chowderfest Theme? It’s a fun recipe cook-off with six delicious chowder recipes.

Our Virtual Supper Club is changing our theme this month by hosting a Chowderfest competition. You’ll see six different recipes and choose which is your favorite or which sounds the best based on the recipe.

All you need to do to vote is leave your favorite in the comments below. We will announce the winner in our weekly roundup next week.

Whether you like a vegetarian chowder or one filled with seafood, we have something that will appeal to everyone.

Is Chowder Soup?

Most people agree that chowder is a form of soup, however it’s thicker.

Soup can be anything from liquid to chunky but chowder is almost always defined by a hearty, creamy, and chunky broth.

What is Supper Club?

If you are joining us for the first time, we are a group of friends who love to entertain, and when entertaining in person wasn’t recommended last year, we started a virtual supper club in January 2021.

We choose a theme for our dinner tables each month, which we post on the 4th Thursday of each month.

This month’s theme is unique because we don’t have a full menu but a Chowderfest Competition.

The tables were fantastic this month: if you missed them, be sure to take a look here.

What is a Chowderfest Competition?

So let’s get this Chowderfest Supper Club competition started.

Since this is a virtual competition, you’ll have to use your imagination. However, if this were a live, in-person event, you’d be getting a little taste of each recipe and voting for your favorite.

Have you ever just read a recipe, and your mouth begins to water?

Well, today’s voting will be based on how good you think the recipes sound. So let’s get started!

Smoked Salmon Chowder Recipe

By: Rachel at The Ponds Farmhouse

This month, I chose a smoked salmon chowder recipe because I’m not a huge chowder fan. I know, sigh!!!

This recipe is thick and hearty but without all the rich cream sauce many recipes include.

However, if you like rich sauces, you will still love this recipe. Although my husband likes all chowders, he also loves this recipe, so it’s perfect for us.

He also loves to smoke salmon, so I let him do that part. If you don’t have a smoker, you can cook the salmon on a grill and add liquid smoke to create that yummy smokey flavor.

Smoked Salmon was added to the soup mixture. Hearty and delicious recipe.

The recipe is hearty and thick but without the heavy cream that’s too rich for my taste. It is perfectly paired with these Sweet Corn Bread Muffins.

I’m also sharing the recipe card again at the end of this post.
